My trip to Seoul, South Korea - Part 2 - Food, Bars, Clubs etc.

Tuesday, November 25, 2014

Hello, lovelies! In case you didn't know already, I went to Seoul on Vacation in June-July. I posted Part 1 quite a while ago and I totally forgot to post the other parts. But since I'm planning to go back to Seoul very soon, I figured that it's about time that I post the other parts. This part is all about Food, Bars, Clubs and more. So, here we go!

I love food and nightlife, so I guess it's not a surprise that I spent about 90% of my time in Seoul at Restaurants, Bars & Clubs. I always went out to for dinner before going out to clubs and such, so let's start with the food. I think I took more pictures of food than anything else, haha.

I went to sooo many different Restaurants and tried so much food so I can't really keep track of everything, but I'll try to tell you as much as possible.

First off, the picture to the left was taken at Dunkin' Donuts. Nothing special really, but my first time at Dunkin' Donuts was in Hongdae, Seoul and I just looove that place. The store and everything in it was so cute and neat. The toasts and the coffees are friggin amazing and since it was really close to where I lived I went there to eat breakfast almost every day.

고기구이 (or Korean BBQ) is quite famous, and since there were BBQ restaurants literally everywhere I obviously had to try it, especially since everyone I know who lives in or has visited Korea kept telling me how good it was. To be honest, I do like it but it's not exactly the best I have ever tried. I guess I had too high expectation, haha.

This dish was definitely my most favorite out of all the food I tried during my visit in Seoul. I ate a lot of this stuff! It was pretty much just spicy chicken and 떡볶이 topped off with a thick layer of cheese. I don't know if there's an actual name for this dish; I could only find it at the Izakaya I usually went to for dinner and the menu literally just said "Spicy Chicken Cheese" or something like that. Anyways, it's sooo good!

Me, Emma and Lydia went to a random restaurant and ordered this dish after a day of shopping in Myeongdong. And it was sooo good! I completely forgot what it's called, but it's basically just chicken mixed with vegetables, smothered in a sauce sent from the heavens above. Yum!

The picture to the left is from a small Restaurant in Hoegi, the place where we lived for the first 2 weeks in Seoul. It was really cozy and they let you write on post-it notes and stick them on the wall. Really cute! Can you spot the one we wrote? Hahaha.

At a street food place in Dongdaemun (I think). I'm actually pretty sure they ripped us off because the price was ridiculously high for being street food. But it was really good, so we let them get away with it.

More 고기구이!

This was at a Traditional Market (?) somewhere. Here, I tried some new food for the first time, like Chicken Feet, for example. It was actually quite crowded, very noisy and a bit dirty. It was an interesting experience but a one time-visit to a place like that is more than enough for me.

To the left, Okonomiyaki at the same Izakaya that has that delicious "Spicy Chicken Cheese" dish. This one is also reaaally good. I just love that place! I should really find out what it's called, cause I totally didn't think about actually checking the name even though I went there a lot. And to the right we have a Juicy Steak at... that famous Steak place (American, I think?). I really can't remember what it's called, haha.

I don't even remember what this thing was (I think it was some kind of seafood, and I usually love seafood), but... Now that I look at it I remember that It definitely wasn't a favorite...

Aaand some more 고기구이!

At last but not least - McDonald's! Surprisingly, McDonald's is a lot better in Seoul than it is in Sweden (I thought the same thing when I went to McDonald's in Japan). Oh, and if you didn't know - I love love love milk and I love how they have these cute little milk cartons that you can get at almost any restaurant or grocery store, unlike Sweden.

Now let's talk about Clubs, Bars and Noraebang. Let's start with Noraebang, which is pretty much just Karaoke, but way more common and fancier in Seoul than in Sweden. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of Karaoke in general, which I guess is quite ironic since I'm a singer. The thing is that I just really need to be in the right mood and with the right people to actually enjoy it.

The left pic is from a Noraebang. Right pic is from NB2 (during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which explains the huge ball).

The clubs in Seoul are amazing. I haven't been to very many clubs around the world (the only other country I can think of is Bangkok), but compared to Sweden It's really the best I have ever been to and It's hard for me to imagine a better place to go clubbing.

This picture is from M2 in Hongdae. The layout is quite plain and simple and the music wasn't the best, but I still enjoyed the couple of times I went there.

In2Deep is a Hip-Hop also located in Hongdae, introduced to us by a friend. It has a very underground feel to it, and our friend knows the bartender so that definitely came with some benefits.

Even though I went to clubs and bars almost every day, I didn't take as many pictures of inside of the clubs. I simply had way too much fun to be thinking about taking photos all the time, haha.

At last but not least, a Jazz bar in Hongdae. I think this was actually the last bar I went to before going back to Sweden. It was in the middle of the week (If I recall correctly) which is why it was pretty much empty. However, the music was really nice and the place was just so cozy. I went to a lot of other small bars too, but I really can't remember the names of any of them...

Except the ones I already mentioned, I also went to NB2, Club Cocoon, Club Vera and Ho Bar in Hongdae, and NB2 and The Answer in Gangnamn. Actually, all of the clubs are nice in their own way, but my favorite club out of all the clubs I visited was definitely NB2 in Hongdae. There were always a lot of people every day of the week at every hour. It has two floors with one bar at each one. The music is amazing which usually is a mix of hip hop and dance/house. A lot of people there, including the bartenders, were really cool and it was easy to actually meet people there. I just loved it!

Thank you for reading! Feel free to ask me anything about my trip to Seoul. I might have left some things out, so I'll be more than happy to ease your curiosity.
Bye for now, lovelies!

These lenses came with a super cute lens case that looks like Macarons. I honestly like these much better than the "cutie animal" lens cases that PinkyParadise used to include with every pair of lenses. I love the simple yet adorable design and it seems to be much more solid and secure than the "cutie animal" cases.

Design
The design of these lenses is very pretty and simply perfect in every way in my opinion. The pattern is very detailed; It's kind of speckled and has a very subtle limbal ring. They cover most of my natural iris but the speckled pattern creates a very nice transition between the lens and the natural iris which makes them blend in very nicely. They look natural and subtle in person despite the speckled pattern and opaque design (which easily can make the eyes look a bit creepy).

Color
These lenses are 2-toned; The base color is a pale true gray and the darker tone is a dark grey. The color is pretty opaque and they look a lot lighter when worn than I expected.

Enlargement
These lenses are huge and the enlarging effect is amazing just like the other lenses from this series. The only curious thing is that the two brands that provide these lenses, Vassen & I.Fairy, state that they are in different diameters. These lenses and the ones I have in Brown are packaged as "Vassen" which claim that they are 14.5/15.0mm, while the ones in Violet and Blue are packaged as "I.Fairy" which claim that they are 16.2mm. I really don't see a difference between them though and the enlarging effect is the exactly same.

Comfort
These lenses are very comfortable considering the big diameter just like all the other lenses I've tried form I.Fairy. However, they're not the most comfortable lenses I've had. I can wear them for a few hours without any problem though.

SAM_3320stampedConclusion
Like I've said in my previous reviews about the other I.Fairy Super Crystal lenses, this series is my favorite of all time. This series of lenses is seriously the only one I need since the design, enlargement, and comfort is amazing, and I can just wear the appropriate color of lens according to my outfit. The colors are vibrant but subtle when worn which makes me feel comfortable when wearing them anytime at any occasion.

I have been using these Gray ones a lot recently since I think they are the most natural looking out of all the colors in this series. I simply love them!

Purple Crush Glitter Nails

Thursday, November 20, 2014

Hello, lovelies! It's been a while since I did Gel Nails, so I thought that I'd give it a go since I'm going to be learning how to do Acrylic Nails very soon. When I had my nails done in Seoul I went with a really pretty Purple Glitter Gradient design that I absolutely fell in love with, so I wanted to go with something similar. I got pretty close and I'm really happy with the result!

The nail polishes I used are IsaDora 104 Purple Crush & China Glaze 806 Techno. The nail polish is actually encapsulated under a layer of UV Gel, but I still felt like using the OPI Natural Nail Base Coat before the nail polish and also finished off with the OPI Top Coat on top of everything.

The IsaDora Purple Crush has been my favorite Nail Color for quite some time now. However, I really dislike the consistency and it is impossible to get off when I use it on my natural nails (even when I apply a base coat first). I'm starting to run out of it and I'm really hoping to find a similar color from another brand instead, so feel free to leave me a suggestion in the comments if you have one in mind. I'd really appreciate it!
Bye for now, lovelies!

[Review] Etude House Kissful Lipcare Scrub, Essence & Lip balm

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

Hello, lovelies! Since my lips got pretty dry when the weather got colder I wanted to get some actual lip care products; I've never put much effort into lip care except for using lip balm occasionally. I did some research on lip care products and I was trying to decide wether to get these products or some similar products form Tony Moly. After reading some reviews I found out that these products are supposedly pretty mild which I thought was perfect for me since I've never really had problems with my lips except for the slight dryness I get sometimes. The funny thing is that once I received these items my lips were already back to normal. However, I still want to start giving my lips some extra care even when they're not dry. With that said, let's take a closer look at these products.

SAM_3051

Kissable Lip Smooth Care (Lip Scrub)
"This lip scrub makes lips soft and moist with its fine of sugar, smoothing away dead skin".

SAM_2974    SAM_2975

SAM_2977    SAM_2979

Texture & Scent
The texture is pretty watery with sugar grains in it. It's like a thinner, more watery version of vaseline. The grains are quite solid at first but dissolve very quickly when you massage it onto your lips. It has a delightful scent of peach.

SAM_3010    SAM_3012

This scrub is perfect if your lips only get slightly dry. I don't think that it will actually do much for very dry lips after just one use, but It might help in the long run. Even though the grains dissolve quickly I still feel like it exfoliates my lips properly without being too harsh or make my lips feel sensitive afterwards. It leaves my lips feeling very smooth.

Kissable Lip Moisture Care (Essence)
"Supplies deep penetrating moisture and nourishment for soft, supple and smooth lip sensation".

SAM_3018    SAM_3020

SAM_3021    SAM_3022

Texture & Scent
The texture is really creamy and smooth. I just love the feeling of it on my lips. This one also has a scent of peach, but it's more subtle than the scrub.

SAM_3026    SAM_3027

I use this every night before bed which makes my lips feel healthy and hydrated in the morning. For me, a regular lip balm is more than enough for me which makes this one feel a bit too heavy too heavy during daytime. If your lips are more on the dry side however, I would recommend to use it even during daytime. It really does feel like it goes deeply into the lips and locks in all the moisture. It definitely does what it claims!

Packaging & Container
The containers and design is very simple and cute; The overall impression it gives is that it looks kind of vintage. Both of the containers are regular, soft dispenser tubes with the images and information being stickers attached onto the tubes. The application tip is slanted and the lid is a regular screw-on lid. I really like that both of the containers are regular tubes which makes application easier. All of the containers in this series actually remind me a lot of the lip balms and lipglosses I used to have when I was a child. Like I mentioned, very vintage. I guess that they might have been aiming for this. I don't mind it, but the packaging and containers of the products from Etude House are usually more cute and impressive than this.

Kissful Lipcare #2 Strawberry
"3 effects (firming, smoothing, moisturizing) lip care that keeps lips moisturized and healthful all day".

SAM_3057SAM_3065
This product is pretty much just like any lip balm, but a good one! I compared it to some of my other lip balms, and the texture is actually very similar to the popular EOS lip balm; It's very creamy and smooth. Even though I love my EOS lip balm, I actually prefer this one because I prefer the wonderful but temporary scent of strawberry, which disappears pretty much as soon as you've applied it, and it doesn't leave that bitter taste in case you get it in your mouth.

Unlike pot-type lip balms, a stick type lip balm like this is great to take with you during the day to give your lips that extra moisture whenever you need it since it is much more hygienic. It pretty much absorbs into your lips after an hour or so, and it leaves my lips feeling super smooth and moisturized without leaving them with an annoying sticky feeling.

I didn't bother to take any pictures while wearing it since it's completely clear and just looks just like you've applied any lip balm.

Results
SAM_3013
This is what my bare lips look like after using these products for about a week. I didn't take a "before" photo since I didn't really have any problems to begin with, and there's actually no significant difference in their appearance. However, they do look a bit smoother than before and I can definitely feel a significant difference. They feel so much smoother, healthier and more moisturized than before.

I highly recommend all of these products to you who have slightly dry and/or sensitive lips. I'm not sure how effective it will be for those with really dry lips, but it's definitely worth a try since I do think that they will definitely give you some sort of improvement if you use them continuously. I think the key to improving dry lips is not only to exfoliate, but also to deeply moisturize them which is what the essence does.
