New Camera - Canon Powershot SX50 HS

Wednesday, April 8, 2015

Hi, lovelies! So, I bought a studio flash set some time ago and It turned out that it wasn't compatible with my camera. I tried to solve the problem by looking for wireless flash triggers, sync cables, etc. but I just couldn't find anything! I was obviously pretty bummed out because of this. However, I urgently needed a camera and a flash to go with it since I need it for an upcoming project, so I simply went ahead and got a new camera. I really love my Samsung NX1000 that I have been using up until now, and I did find some flashes that go with it, but like I said, this was an urgent situation and If I would've bought the flash for my NX1000 I would have to wait for about a month before receiving it which wasn't time I had to spare. I will still keep using my NX1000 and will eventually get better accessories for it too.

Anyhow, I was looking at quite a few cameras and tried to choose carefully before I got a new one. I wanted a user-friendly camera which would allow me to shoot high quality photos and videos despite my low budget, which is very similar to my NX1000. But most importantly I wanted a camera that would actually benefit me and had other features to offer than my NX, not only because I needed a camera with a better flash. In the end I decided to go with the Canon Powershot SX50 HS. Now, I'm not a professional when it comes to cameras and photography and I'm still learning about all of the aspects, but I really like this camera so far!

I mentioned the things I was looking for in my new camera, and this one pretty much does the job, but since I wanted a camera with some different features, let me tell you a little about some of the features that I like about this camera and what makes it different from my NX.

One of the main reasons why I got this camera was because of the Vari-angle LCD Screen. I was simply really charmed by the fact that I would be able to actually see myself when taking self-portraits or filming myself for future videos, which is something I haven't been able to do earlier.

I'm still a beginner when it comes to photography and haven't handled many different cameras yet, especially the more advanced ones. Therefore, it was important for me to find a user-friendly camera. Even though this camera is a little trickier to use than the Samsung NX1000, I still find it very user-friendly. I was able to grasp the aspects of it pretty fast, without the user manual, just by playing around with it a bit by taking photos and trying out all of the different features while doing so.

This camera also has 50x Optical Zoom (24-1200mm), which is ridiculously much compared to my NX1000 with only a teeny-tiny 2.50x Zoom (20-50mm, 30-77mm eq.). I never cared much about Zoom before, but I really want to use it more from now on.

Both this camera and my NX are great cameras in their own way. What I like about my NX is that it's easier to handle and is also a bit faster when it comes to taking photos. What I like more about the PowerShot is, like I said, the Vari-angle LCD Screen which is why I will mainly use the PowerShot for when I want to take self-portraits or check myself out when recording videos. And since this camera also has a crazy Zoom feature, I really want to explore that area further since it's something I haven't done before.

I feel like I've written a little more than I originally intended to, haha. Instead of just introducing my new camera, this post turned into a mini-comparison/review between the Canon Powershot SX50 HS and the Samsung NX1000. I'm a bit biased with my NX so I just had to throw it in here too. Anyhow, take everything I've mentioned with a grain of salt since this is only my opinion, and in the end it's all about personal taste. I'm really curious about what kinds of cameras other people prefer/are using. Are you into photography? And If you do, which camera do you use? Feel free to let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading and bye for now!

Dyeing my hair! - L'Oréal Paris Prodigy

Friday, April 3, 2015

Hi, lovelies! My hair has been a mess lately so I decided to do something about it. I wanna go silver/grey again, and I found that dyeing my hair in an warm blonde color creates a really good base to get the shade of grey I want. I picked up this random hair dye from L'Oréal in 7.0 Dark Blonde (aka Almond) and decided to try it out since I haven't seen it around before.
SAM_53632
I didn't think there this dye was anything special about this hair dye and I can't say that there's a big difference between this dye and any other hair dye I've tried. I didn't plan on doing a review on it so I didn't take any before or after pictures. However, I can at least say that this is a decent hair dye. It smells absolutely amazing, it didn't irritate my scalp, and my hair felt soft and smooth afterwards, and the color turned nice and even. I also really liked the design of the bottles for some reason, haha. I'm going to wait until the dye fades and lightens up a bit before I dye it silver/grey. I can't wait to have nice hair again!

Simple Spring Color Nails

Thursday, April 2, 2015

Hi, lovelies! Spring is finally coming and I'm really feeling it which has inspired my nails and makeup a lot lately.
springnails
I popped on some fake nails and painted them in different colors which reminded me of spring. Hm, but now that I'm looking at it I kinda feel like I should've added some yellow too! What do you think? Which colors make you think of Spring?

Also, I'm running out of my China Glaze in Techno, which is one of my favorite nail polishes ever, and because of this the glitter on the silver nail looks kinda gross and bulky. I need to get a new one ASAP! And by the way, the reason why I also added silver and glitter which normally might not be considered as a spring color was because I wanted it to represent the frost that still lingers after winter at the beginning of spring.

Anyways, like I said, my spring feelings make me want to play around more with colors in makeup, nails and photos. And right now I really want to try out a matching makeup look, so stay tuned for that!

Thanks for reading and bye for now, lovelies!

[Review] Etude House Look At My Eyes Café BR402 & BR406 and Look At My Eyes Jewel BR408

Wednesday, April 1, 2015

Hi, lovelies! The other day I made a post about my order at TesterKorea.com and some of the things I got were these Etude House Eyeshadows. I got the Etude House Look At My Eyes Café BR402 & BR406 and Look At My Eyes Jewel BR408. In this post I will be reviewing these amazingly pretty eyeshadows.

The eyeshadows in natural lighting.

Look At My Eyes Café BR402 Cafe Mocha
This is a deep chocolate brown eyeshadow. It's very pigmented, buildable, and has a slightly satin finish when applied. The color is a perfect dark brown, but I was actually a little surprised by the shiny finish. I would've preferred it to be more matte. However, the satin finish is really not that prominent and this still works perfectly as a basic dark brown eyeshadow which is great to create depth to your eye makeup.

Look At My Eyes Café  BR406 Ginger Milk Tea
This is a neutral taupe eyeshadow. Similar to the Cafe Mocha, it has a very smooth and velvety feel but has a more matte finish. It's a perfect eyeshadow for a natural eye makeup base or shading/contour. It's neither too warm nor too greyish which is usually a problem for me when it comes to contouring shades. This exactly the kind of shade I've been looking for. It does have a slightly pinkish tone to it in some lighting, but you can see the true color of it in the pictures of the swatches on my hand and when I used it in my eye makeup in the pictures below.

Look At My Eyes Jewel BR408 Moonlight Darling
This is a beautiful glitter type eyeshadow. The texture is quite grainy since this is a glitter type shadow and isn't as smooth as the regular eyeshadows, but it still goes on nice and smoothly. This eyeshadow mainly consists of glitter, and the glitter itself is mostly silver but when looking closely I can also see hints of gold and pink. The base color is almost completely transparent, but it does have a slightly pearly beige tone to it. This is very similar to the eyeshadow I had in BR405 and I wanted to compare them side by side, but unfortunately I dropped my BR405 on the floor the other day. They are very similar and it's hard to distinguish the two at first glance, but I can say that the biggest difference between them is that the BR405 has a slightly darker and more prominent base color and also has a slightly warmer tone to it. I like both of them, but I would say that this one is more suitable if you want to create a glittering but subtle eye makeup look or use it on top of any eyeshadow to add a touch of glitter.

Here you can see what the eyeshadows actually look like when applied in real life. I applied Ginger Milk Tea as a Base all over my upper eyelid and I also used it to fill in my eyebrows and to accentuate my "eye bags".  I used Cafe Mocha on the outer V and lastly I applied Moonlight Darling in the center for some volume and shimmer. The colors are very true to what they actual look like in real life in these pictures. However, I applied Cafe Mocha pretty lightly. It can be built up to be a lot darker. In my opinion, Ginger Milk Tea and Cafe Mocha are perfect eyeshadows to use for a natural daytime look, and for night time you could just darken Cafe Mocha and add Moonlight Darling to add some glamour!

The quality of Etude House's eyeshadows is really amazing. I only have these 3 at the moment but I will definitely be getting more of them. I love that Etude House has a lot of various colors to choose from and frequently add new colors to their eyeshadow collections. Hae you tried Etude House's eyeshadows and do you have any favorites? Feel free to let me know in the comments!
Thank you for reading and bye for now, lovelies.
