My Favorite Powders - For pale skin & Great coverage

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

Hello Lovelies~! It has always been a bit of a challenge for me to find good base makeup since I'm very fair (with a beige undetone), have oily, uneven skin and dark circles. This means that I need to find a powder that will suit my fair skin (doesn't make it darker), has good oil-control and good coverage (same goes for Foundation/BB Cream). The powders I'm going to mention in this posts are absolutely amazing and are the ones that have worked the best for me (considering my skin type and skin tone) so far. At first I was thinking of doing a review for each one of these powders, but since I think that all of them are amazing I decided to include all of them in the same post to make more of an overall review and tell you why I these are my favorite powders.

Disclaimer:
Keep in mind that the products I mentioned work best for me, which means that they aren't necessarily the best choice for you since everyone has different skin tones and skin types.

1. Make Up Store Dual Foundation
This powder has become my absolute favorite of all time. It has amazing buildable coverage which gives a flawless and smooth but still natural finish. It has the best oil-control out of all powders I've tried and at the same time it keeps my skin moisturized and doesn't make my skin look dry. I also love how smooth the texture of the powder itself is. I use it in the shade called 'Helsinki'. There's honestly not much more to say since this powder is simply perfect in every way.

Make Up Store claims:
"Dual Foundation is a creamy-powder with a matt and covering finish. It suits every skin type. Apply it with a sponge for an even skin and skin tone. If you wet the sponge the foundation gets even more coverage. The product is perfect when ever you need a touch up.
Key ingredients:
Meadowfoam Seed Oil: Prevents drying, acts moisturizing.
Shea butter: Moisturizing and protecting.
Silica: Gives a nice, soft feeling. Prevents dehydration, absorbs oil, acts mattifying."

2. MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix
This powder used to be my favorite one, but Make Up Store's Dual Foundation has taken its place simply because the Dual Foundation suits my skin tone slightly better and has better oil-control. The coverage is amazing, it's very long-lasting and gives you a natural finish, although my skin does end up quite shiny at the end of the day; Probably because this powder let's your skin "breathe". I guess this would be perfect for those who want to have glowy and radiant skin. I use this one in NC15 (and that's the closest one to my skintone out of the Studio Fix powders).

MAC claims:
"A one-step powder and foundation that provides a smooth, flawless, all-matte, full-coverage finish. Long-wearing, velvety texture allows skin to breathe. Available in a wide range of colours."

3. Lumene Touch of Radiance Powder
This powder is seriously underrated since it's pretty amazing, especially considering how cheap it is. I use it in 1 Translucent, which claims to suit most skintones. The reason why I love it so much is because it's great for those with pale skin (like me) and it has amazing coverage. The only downside with this powder is that it can make my skin quite dry (just like many other drugstore powders) after using it for a longer period of time, even though my skintype is oily. I don't use this powder anymore since I prefer the other two I mentioned, but if you don't want to spend 30-40USD on a powder, this is probably the best choice for you.

Lumene claims:
"Luminous and silky matt finish. Lumene Touch of Radiance Powder keeps skin shine-free and naturally matt all day long while providing soft powder veil with luminous freshness. The unique formula with illluminating pigments comforts the skin making it smooth and radiant, all day long. With micro-tiny invisible luminosity and soft-focus pigments powder optically minimizes wrinkles and gives radiant yet lively matt finish. Illuminating pigments are not visible pearls and therefore very suitable also for more mature women. Contains skin protecting Arctic Cloudberry. 8 g."

I hope that you'll discover how great these powders are and that you will love them just as much as I do. If you've already tried one of these or have another favorite powder that is similar, please let me know in the comment section! Bye for now, lovelies!
